2009-10 Corolla CAI fitment...

So I ordered some stuff from DDM tuning the other day, and I came across this CAI with shield. It is for a 2009-10 corolla, BUT I am wondering if it won't fit our cars....

They include a pic with it, and comparing our engine bays to this gen, I think it might...

Here is the link: http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...350&parent=190

If someone could give me some insight into this, I'd appreciate it!!

You can be the first to try...and besides it might just need a little adjusting to it as it looks like it.Just my opinion.

that doesn't look like a typical CAI. Looks like another SRI to me.

i could build you a true cold air intake, with all aluminum piping for less than that. and i would guarentee mine would fit perfectly

I wouldn't mind one of those myself... How much would it be? Or if you had part numbers I could buy it myself.

Yeah, that may make it more affordable too! May I second that on the materials?

yes it would have all the sensor holes. looks like i need to get some aluminum piping and start making a few prototypes. cant say anything on price yet, but ill let you know once i get a few made. but since there seems to be an interest, what size piping would you all like? would you like me to source a filter as well? or have the option to provide your own filter?

i wouldnt have a part number for it, since i would be fabricating them from scratch. so really the price would depend on the person wanting the intake.

The bigger the better right? Also, I have a filter on my short ram with a heat shield I'd like to keep so I'll measure it. (looks a lot like this : http://rpmspeed.com/images/E-1009.jpg

bigger isnt always better. i know that with some larger sized intake piping on the celica's it can cause the ecu to throw a CEL and run poorly. will this happen on our corolla's? maybe. i know for a fact, with my setup right now i dont have a CEL from an intake. but im a 99 map sensor engine. the CEL occurs on maf cars. i have a short ram in 3in. works fine. it also is close to the opening diameter of the celica gt throttle body i am using.

then we can get into the velocity vs flow debate of size. a 2.5 in pipe would have a higher velocity than a 3in but lower flow total. but the 3in would have a higher flow rating, and slower velocity.

a 2.5in diameter is what i would stick with on maf sensor cars, if you have a map, you could go 3in, if you want to. but like i said, i will make them to what ever specs you want.

I don't think you can go any thicker than 2" or 2 1/2" for the piping as it will not fit through the existing hole to reach outside the engine bay without some fabrications.(I think i've read that somewhere on here) but i'd sure like one of these if you do make em, always looking for something else to do on my car haha.

you could get a 3in pipe to go through. just have to use a 3in hole saw and open it up. LOL

Lol because if I would ever want to go back to the stock air box...

Doing some research though, and the CAI def has a big advantage over the stock one or a SRI. Imagine too if I switched out the manifold to a celica one, with the new throttle body as well!! That would be pretty beast!
