Horn Location

Local parts tech insists my 99 Corola has 2 horns, high and low. One is on radiator support but I can't find the other one. Parts diagram is no help. Anyone know where the 2nd horn is located?

Parts tech should show you pictures of the two horns (their parts database should have photos or good drawings of them) and their bracket assemblies.

I'm pretty sure the thing has only got the one horn (the one you found).

If the horn sounds right when you activate it, then it's easy to test if there's a second one -- disconnect the wire from the one you DO see. Then you should get either the other tone, or no tone. If you still hear a tone, try to get an assistant to help you find it by looking around while you honk the horn.

It may be that the one horn unit produces two tones in harmony, or that you can choose to replace the high pitched horn with a low pitched horn.

Parts diagram is no help. Only had sound from one horn although did disconect existing unit to listen for a second. But the issue all along is wanting more sound from this small car which my wife drives. I'll probably just graft the second into the system. Thanks for your reply.

The good thing about Toyota horns is that almost all of them share the same plugs. A mate of mine has a 2001 Toyota Vitz RS with a rather wimpy sounding horn, so we went to the junk-yard, found a Toyota Aristo and took one of the horns off (they're labelled 'H' and 'L' for high and low). Got home, plugged it straight in using the existing plug/loom on the Vitz, and the horn sounded a lot more manlier straight away.

If it turns out that you've only got one horn, it's easy enough to splice the wires and hook up another one
