I am currently grinding all my rust off my 01 corolla and I need to take off the plastic detail strip that is on the side of the car about halfway down doors. How do I remove this and also put it back on? Any help would be great thanks
Like debadging - Point a hairdryer at the moulding to heat it up some, then slide a dental floss underneath and across it. Once off, get some "goof off" and wipe off residues.
But unless the rust has spread beneath the molding, you shouldn't have to.

use a heat gun and heat the glue (on the molding) then rub it off, after that use thinner to clean it
then use 3m 2-way tape. put 2 way tape on the molding first the press the tape so it sticks then clean the car then put it on
u can get this from CT http://multimedia.mmm.com/mws/mediaw...dddV5fpgDDDDC-

I have grinded a good amount of rust off the car. I have a problem though. You can tell at some spots the rust has gone deeper then the surface. It looks like the metal has dimples and their is rust in it. I was told to grind it all out until its smooth but I dont think thats the best idea because I am worried I will grind to much off. Is there a chemical I can buy to get the little bit of rust in the dimples off maybe?
