Difficulty in putting a crate motor in 99 Corolla

I want to know how difficult it is to replace the engine in a 1999 Corolla VE with a 1ZZ-FE crate motor. I don't know if it is a vvt-i yet, but I know those require more work than I would like.

Would this bolt up directly and all I have to do is plug in the sensors?

how difficult is it depends on your mechanical abilities

if you are comfortable working under the hood, i'd say it's relatively easy.

why buy a crate motor? local junk yards should have 1zzfe's laying around.

i don't your 99 corolla has VVT-i, it didn't become available till 2000

Because junk yard motors have 200k km on them and they want like 500$.

I can get a crate motor for 700$.

So basically its just a matter of plugging everything back as it should be, no modification involved?

i almost bought an 07 motor with 18k for $1000 (sold before i got there) but i got a 05 with 75k for $800 tax included (came with manifolds, harness, engine sensors, etc that's why it was a bit expensive)

as far as the changing goes, my motor went in without much modifications (knock sensor needs swapping, used old manifolds, coolant temp sensor needs be swapped to connect to old harness, use old engine mount that's about it)

(corrected) I read the link posted by wylee, it has just about everything you will need to know in there. so yeah, no need for me to babbling on and on here

i wish the thread was there when i did my engine swap
