'98 RPM trouble

I was driving down the highway the other day, and for some reason the engine couldn't go above 2100 RPMs, i could shift gears fine (so it wasn't the tranny) and the ODB code said it was random cyl. misfires. the engine is a (newer) 1999 version with 75k miles on it, but the shell has about 150k miles on it itself.

I checked the spark plugs and the wiring, and it looks clean, but is it [normal] for 1998's to have so much problems with electrical? I just changed 4 bulbs or so in the car (fuel light, far left AC light, ash tray, and far right AC) and now my light for the shifter just decided to go out (it's an automatic)

I mean my car's always been a bit wonky, but after i got my engine swapped out, it just seems like my car's been hitting the crazy juice a bit more. =)

sounds interesting haha. I would change out the plugs and wires just to rule that out. Maybe use some fuel injector cleaner as well.

Hi,

Check your alternator, if the regulator is bad, you will have more than 14.x volts, sometimes you can have something like 18V and your battery will be very hot. This can cause the lights to burn.

And if the Rectifier Bridge is bad, you will have AC voltage instead of DC !

I don't know about your RPM problem, sorry
