replacing oil pan + tensioner
Hi all. I'm new to this forum, looks like a great place, I think I'll stick around. 1999 Corolla LE.
On to my question. My oil pan is leaking around the plug. An attempt to fix it failed, as did a kludge with JB Weld. The bottom line is that the whole pan needs to go. I have a Haynes manual and a search here and elsewhere suggests it's not too difficult. However, labor quotes seem to be high suggesting that it is at least time-intensive.
Keeping in mind that I am not a very good mechanic, how hard will this be? The worst part seems to be keeping the nuts at proper torque. If I buy a new pan, will it come with a gasket, and will I need a new gasket along with the sealant?
Secondly, my timing chain tensioner needs replacing. Should I even attempt this?
