Engine restorer

I have a 2001 toyota corolla with 150k miles in it. I've put this engine restorer product in my car and experienced hesititation in my engine. My mechanic fixed it by resetting the ecu. Now im changing oil and thinking about adding 10w-40 oil with the engine restorer. Should i add the engine restorer in the mix with the 10w-40 oil?

Did the car experience engine hesitation before you poured in the engine restore product? What reason are you adding the restore additive in the first place? Did the mechanic explain what was the original cause of the hesitation before he reset the ECM?

Personally, if I added an additive to my engine that caused hesitation soon afterwards - I would not be pouring in that stuff into the engine ever again. Adding engine restore with a much heavier engine oil is just a potential recipe for disaster. Not only will you be running a heavier oil, but also have engine restore gumming up the works.

When adding anything else than motor oil - keep the changes to a minimum, so that you can monitor the effects - before and after. Running a heavier motor oil weight is not recommended on the 1ZZ-FE unless the conditions fully require that heavier oil. The OEM viscosity is chosen for a good balance of engine protection, good fuel economy, and proper lubrication.

That's the reason why you never want to put any unknown additives in the engine.

I would flush out the restorer by doing a few successive oil changes with short intervals.

Stick to 5w30 or 10w30.
