Help me with a few mods i want to accomplish?

Hey guys, browsing around this forum i've been trying to find something i could do to my 2002 corolla. I've come up with a few ideas that were from members and a few i've been wanting to do for a while. Can you guys help me answer some questions that i have?

So far all i did was add hyper yellow noka bulbs (9005)

I wanted to add:

1. Blacked out housing headlights + corners like these ones.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/01-02-TOYOTA-CORO...item53e199a58d

Should i be getting these from ebay? (only source i know)

2. I also seen accord lips on the corolla. Can i get some more info on this? Model year, front or rear lip of accord?

3. Fog lights, i've seen a thread on this but its not detailed enough for me to install and wire everything was hoping to get few more tips about this mod!

4. TRD sideskirts (from corolla S) model. Is this part very hard to find? Been looking around but no luck!!

5. Also wanted to add a lip spoiler or a normal spoiler but i dont want any fiber glass material. Does anything have pics of the M3 universal spoiler on the corolla?

one more
6. I wanted better light out put on my car without going HID/projector routes because of cost. I was looking for nokya artic white as DRL but i've heard of issues with the bulbs melting. Does anyone have feedback for this? I think stock wattage is 65w so if i stick with that would it be okay? The DRL's are always on so i am a bit concerned about that. I also found a set that are 55w but still hesitant.

I've been wanting to mod this car for sometime but the after market parts for this car just aren't that easy to come by. Some are almost impossible! Anyways i just hope to get some feedback and knowledge on these few mods to enhance the appearance of my corolla.

- Thanks!

1. Those headlights are fine, but if you get them, reseal them with RTV clear silicone to prevent moisture from getting into them.

3. 4. 5. You should be able to use car-part.com database to search all the junkyards in Ontario to find what you're looking for. It's a pretty useful tool when you need to get hard to find stuff locally.

6. Double check your owners manual for the exact power draw specs. If the bulbs are rated for the same wattage as stock, then you're good to go.

1. I have the all black headlights and they look good but it seems like its harder to see at night than with the OEM ones. It might be that I need to adjust them a little more. You can also DIY your own healights.

5. Spoiler:

Since you're looking to improve the appearance of your car, have you looked at possibly lowering it and a nice set of rims?

Thanks for those input guys.

Yes i have considered rims but the thing is i cant lower the car because every time i go over a speed bump in my parking lot and i have one person inside the car it scraps. I got the shocks and struts checked out and they are still in good condition. So if i lower my car i will be constantly scraping, which is one thing i hate about this car because all my friends just drive there car over bumps like nothing and i have to be extra careful.

Where did you get that spoiler by the way? it looks pretty good

might have to roll the fenders. either rent a machine to do that or do it yourself with a baseball bat. It will solve the problem in no time.

Thanks, got it from ebay. Similar to the link below:

Actually the problem when going over the speed bump is that it scraps the bottom of the car, so im not sure if rolling the fenders would solve that issue D:

The spoiler your got from ebay was it a perfect fit? Im assuming you didnt have to paint yours because it was black

Good call-- HID kits in halogen reflector housings are unsafe, ineffective and illegal. Most projector retrofits can be spotty unless you use genuine OEM parts.

Nokya arctic white? Blue-glass junk. The blue glass removes useful light and leaves behind useless light that the human eye is not equipped to see properly by.

The best 9006 you can get is the Philips X-Treme Power.

You could potentially modify a Philips HIR2 9012 to fit the 9006 socket, the filament placement is exactly the same.

With either one, there are no issues with melting wiring because neither is an overwattage bulb.

Arguments about whether they're "fine" aside (one would have to see actual photometric testing to know that), here's some more information about the condensation issues.

Windshield urethane would be much better; silicone can outgas and ruin the vapor-coat aluminum.

Also, the issue is not necessarily that moisture gets in, it's that it doesn't get out. Venting on many aftermarket headlights is either absent or improperly done, so that the moisture that does get in does not get back out.

Very true!

You bring up good points.

I know this first hand after seeing one of my friends go through 2 sets of aftermarket headlights before finally buying OEM headlights again.
