Rack and pinion gone out!!!

Today I had my car up on a lift to install a muffler. As I expected, a little bit of oil was comming from my oil pan gasket. Like I said I was expecting it. But what I didnt expect to see was a fast drip of power steering fluid falling to the garage floor. I was just about to spend some money on a set of struts and tien springs, but it looks like that'll have to wait. I have no idea how to rebuild the rack and pinion and I'm not looking for a 'how to' on this. I was wondering if anybody had an idea where I might be able to find a complete rack and pinion for under $170. Everywhere I have looked so far, they want $200-285. Just for the rack and pinion, REBUILT!!! Not brand new. Call me a cheapskate, but sh!t thats steep. Any suggestions?? I would go to Ebay, but I'm kinda sketchy of getting "big parts" on there. I'll get the strut bar, short shifters, stuff like that.

Thanks

I spent more than that getting a reman rack for my Camry from NAPA. I just saved some labor by installing it myself through the christmas holiday.

I'm sure its the rack, the leak was comming from the gear housing and not a hose connection.

I found a rack and pinion whse that will sell the power rack I need for $140.

FYI, if ever needed

Thanks to all of your input and answers.

Yep they're expensive because they have to be built tough to last.
