i have heard that a manual car of the same car is always faster and stronger than an automatic one??I mean with all stock, is it really true??
For example i heard a stock celica gt automatic runs slower than a manual gt at 17 secs comparing to 15 secs. And same for a gts running slower than a manual gts.
Depends on the driver of the manual. The automatic changes gears when it hits a certain RPM's and with a manual you shift the gears at the desired RPM. So with that being said, with a manual you can either have worst MPG or better MPG and faster acceleration because you control the clutch. Now then, you can weaken the clutch by riding it all the time while driving, therefore making the tranny make more revolutions than needed for the current speed you are going and approaching. I believe its all opinion. My opinion is Manual is better, I drive one. I hate automatics, especially automatic tuners.
this is not myth, this is fact. manuals are faster and will dyno with more power. this is because there is less drivetrain loss in an manual than an automatic. the second factor is weight. the automatics weigh a ton compaired to any of toyota's C series gear boxes. i my self experianced almost a 2 second drop in my 1/8th mile times from switching from auto to manual (but mine was a 6spd). manuals will get better MPG's, dyno with more power, and have quicker acelleration times. along with a more nimble feeling car due to the reduced weight hanging over the front end. c60 is about 90-95lbs, 3spd auto is about 200+.
I prefer automatics. More convenient, less hassle. Not concerned with speed or power. It IS a Corolla.
Manuals can be fun only on certain circumstances. But for the main type of driving I do, I like autos.
Tell me what exactly is that supposed to mean? It IS a corolla. Your saying rollas can't be sporty or something? It's people like you that really bother me.

Oh geez
I dont consider "Sporty" and "FAST" the same thing. I was talking about a true FAST sports car, which "rollas" are not, and never have been. It can be sporty, but it will never be FAST out of the factory. I am not disrespecting, just stating my opinion that I think its pointless to modify a car like this for power. I like these cars a lot and thats why I own one, but I'm not going to pretend that its fast by rolling up to a light and trying to race something. I just drive the thing and maintain the crap out of it so it keeps looking nice. If I wanted speed or power, I would not own a 4 cylinder N/A automatic vehicle. Since now I rather have MPG, reliability and comfort, thats why I own a Corolla.
Its people like you that really hurt my internet feelings with that last comment. LOL

I've driven my 'Rolla at sustained speeds of 90-100mph. That sounds pretty fast to me. Oh, and it is an Automatic.
