USA Check Engine Light

Luckily, I had my car emission's tested yesterday and got my new plate but today the engine light suddenly went on after a short trip to the grocery store. I replaced the battery the day before yesterday but that was all. The only time this ever happened to me was when I left the gas cap off. Could the emissions test screwed something up? Could the person have accidentally messed with something when he plugged in the tester? Help On running on fumes in my life and have no idea what is going on. Thanks!

Take it somewhere and have the code read to see what the problem is, many places like Autozone will do it for free. Its impossible for us to guess over the internet, bad gas cap, O2 sensor, could be anything.

If it is blinking that means a misfire usually in the obdII systems. I wouldn't drive it if it is blinking. On steady means emissions. I would unhook the battery for at least a couple of minutes and see if it clears and or comes back.

No, the light isn't blinking. Just siting there like an eye staring at me. I will try unhooking the battery since I'm not going anywhere for a day or two and see if that helps. Thanks!
