I need to replace a leaking gasket on the front exhaust at manifold. can this cause a code po446 diagnosis? I have a 2002 toyota corolla ce 4 door automatic with a/c. 104k miles. your responses are greatly appreciated as i am not very knowledgeable about automotive technology

Not too sure if that causes that code. Do you hear a leak under your hood? If so, you could have a leak either at the donut gasket, which is the manifold to front exhaust pipe, or you might have a leak right at the manifold to block gasket. But both together you'll spend no more than $25. Its best to change them both then guess what it is. After you do that, you might want to check and see if your manifold oxygen sensor is loose. When these cars get old, they tend to have the bolts/nuts rust up and rought. Just like any old car that has many owners. After you replace the gaskets and check the O2 sensor, disconnect the negitive batt cable for about 1 min, then reconnect. What you're doing here is reseting the computer and everything else, so you'll lose your saved radio channels. Good luck, let me know if that fixes the prob.
