HID headlight DRL FIX!

YOU DONT HAVE TO DISABLE THE DRL!!!

I was reading up on the HID DRL. On the 9th Gen forum, there was someone on there that said to run an outside ground from your balast to a ground spot. I wish I had my camera with me to show y'all. I'll just try to explain it:

All you have to do is run a ground wire from one of your headlights, for those don't know, your headlights are on the same circut, so grounding one will do it.

Either buy some vamp splicers, or you can cut the wire and splice it old school. The black wire on coming from your plug to the balast is the ground. The red w/ black stripe is the factory plug ground. I ran a ground wire from the drivers side headlight to a ground bolt that is right under the strut mount on the inside hood area. (Don't know how else to explain it.) Once I get my camera, I will post pics back on here for those that are having the same prob I was. Hope this helps you guys!!!

This would work, as DRL is done on our cars by providing increased resistance on headlight's negative end. Positive end is always 12V when headlight is on, either full on or DRL on. The mod grounds the negative end, taking both DRL relays - DRL brain and a little "DRL relay" that switches the negative end of headlights - out of the circuit. This guarantees full voltage to the HID ballasts so they won't flicker.

The down side - your HID will be full on all the time. Once DRL activates, you headlight switch would no longer do anything. You could leave it on "TAIL" and drive at night.

If you're using a HID wiring harness, just splice this ground into that harness. If not and you still want this mod to be reversible, pull the DRL relay from engine bay, take a short piece of 14-gauge wire, crimp on two male spade connectors, and short the big contacts with the wire.
