A/C Compressor turns off after a few seconds...

After pressing the A/C button, the compressor turns on and then shuts off after a few seconds. The A/C light then starts blinking. If I continue to press the A/C button on and off to keep the compressor running, cold air comes out, however, I have to push the button every few seconds.

Can someone please help me diagnose this issue? I am puzzled because it seems like the compressor works, it is just shutting off after a few seconds for some reason. I checked the refrigerant levels and they are good so that is not it. I also changed the relay that controls the AC Clutch, but that did not work at all. Anyone have any ideas???

you sure those levels are good? the compressor shutting off is a fail-safe so you dont burn it out from having it low on refrigerant. also of the low and high side pressure switches are acting up you might get the flashing light.

I am pretty sure the level is good. What I did was I put the guage on the port and turned the AC button on. Since it stays on for a few seconds, I was able to see the guage move to good pressure levels. Still puzzled as to what the problem is.

i actually just had the same problem a few months ago. check the relay under the hood. there is another one in there that is identical, i forget what the second one goes to, but swap them around real quick and try it out.
it is a toyota only relay and pretty expensive. i git lucky and took mine apart carefully ( cap part comes off) and i cleaned the connections inside where then one thingy flapps back and forth to the other thingies( super technical words here) with WD-40 and a toothpick then let it dry real well befor putting back together. try this out and let us know if it helped you.
