4 speed auto, what rpms at 65?

I swapped in a gauge cluster with tach into our 98 rolla. I swapped the speedo over from the old cluster to maintain a true odometer reading then swapped in a new needle as my original was cracked. Now my speedo reads about 10mph to high. All I can think about doing is comparing rpm readings to make sure I got my needle on right. Any other ideas?

Also the digital readout under the tach says "- E" all the time, whats that about? Everything else works.

well if this helps i have a 4 speed auto and at 70MPH i'm at about 2500 RPM. all the roads around where i am are 70 MPH so i'm almost never at 65.

E is the ambient temperature readout. You need to buy the sensor and attach it next to the horn to get a reading.

Get a cheap GPS...handheld hunting type or navigation (Tom Tom, Garmin, etc.) type will do. Then you won't be guessing/calculating you'll know your speed.

As teppsita stated, the E is indicating an error because the temp probe is not there. The gauge is seeing infinite resistance instead of a resistance level it can convert to a temperature reading.
