brake light pblm

hey guys..got a 99 corolla and jus a quick q, i just realized all my brake lights are out (only back 1's) including the top linear 1 on the windshield, i changed the bulb, but nothing.. these are the ones located on the trunk itself not on the bumper..u press the brakes and get no response!

the reverse lights work, the turn signals work, and the outside rear ones work too (that go on with the headlights)..any ideas what it may be? thanx for the inputs

Check your brake light switch located at the top of your brake pedal.

If it's anything like my 93' Corolla then there will be a 15-amp fuse in the engine compartment that services the stop lights. The other lights such as the indicators etc are operated by a separate fuse. That would be the first place I'd check. The location of the fuse may be slightly different to mine, but it should be labelled on the fuse cover and/or in the factory owner's manual.

Fuse # 8

Inspect mentioned brake switch near pedal, constant voltage on one side, switched voltage on the other side.
