Thumbs up Electric wiring for3spd-> 4spd swap

This information is mainly for 105 who PMed me, but I'll post it here for all to see, in case it comes in handy for anyone else.

The plugs you need to look out for are:
E4: Dark gray, 26 positions, plugs into ECU
E6: Dark gray, 22 positions, plugs into ECU
P1(A): Gray, 7 wires in 10 positions, plugs into 4spd tranny
P1(B): Gray, 5 wires in 9 positions, plugs into 3spd tranny
E1, Black, 3 wires, plugs into 4spd tranny. You need to provide for this plug and the wires.
IJ2: Blue, 22 positions, to the left of the center storage
cubby/box, plugs into instrument panel wire's male end.
J12: A junction connector packed inside the engine wire itself. You have to unwrap it to see it. This is essential if you want to later retrofit cruise control.
IL1: White, 19 positions, to the right of the center storage box.

There is a sealed blob where the engine wire clips onto the firewall. This point is packed full of sealants. You will need to make some room for a minimum of 3 wires (for E1) to come through.

Here is the 4spd pinouts:
E4-23 (E4 pin 23, same for others) to E1-3, violet wire
E4-22 to E1-1, brown-yellow
E4-21 to E1-2, blue-yellow
These are how the ECU controls the tranny.
E6-22 to IJ2-22, light green. This is your OD switch input to ECU.
E6-18 to P1A-3, light green-red. This tells the ECU you moved the shift lever to 2.
E6-19 to P1A-4, light green-black. this tells the ECU you moved the shift lever to L.

If you want to retrofit cruise control, the brown-yellow circuit becomes:
E1-1 to J12-F (group F... all wires of same colour go to the same group in a junction connector. When plugged in, all wires in the same group will be connected together), Unplug the male end to see how the contacts are grouped. Probe the male end if necessary.
J12-F to E4-22
J12-F to IL1-6

This is how you re-pin P1:
P1B-6, red-blue, move to P1A-2. 12V with key on.
P1B-5, red-black, move to P1A-8, reverse signal.
P1B-2, black-white, move to P1A-5
P1B-3, black, move to P1A-6. These two are your PNP switch contacts.
P1B-8, blue-black, move to P1A-10. This gets 12V when in D and tells cruise control it's OK to engage.

If the wires I mentioned above are not present, you will have to provide for it.

Thanks, this should help a lot. I may also look into the cruise control. This should probably be a sticky or something.

By the way, if I decide to install an OD switch, where do the two wires from the switch connect?

They take up the two empty positions in the blue male connector at the base of the shifter. the other two are for the bulb lighting up the gear indicator.
