Essentially, you don't want them. They are ineffective, unsafe, and illegal. There is no new "innovation" that invalidates that statement. See here.

The stock reflectors are based on capturing the light from the single hotspot in the center of the filament, not from the two hotspots formed at the electrodes in an HID capsule (with one hotspot being behind the focal point, the other being forward of it, when dealing with reflectors designed for an axial filament, such as designed for 9003, 9006, and 9005 bulbs). There is no way to aim them properly due to this. You'll see less well and you'll blind other drivers.

HIR2 and HIR bulbs are the way to go. Candlepower, Inc is running a special on HIR2/HIR bulbs -- $100 for the complete set. This is going to be the best upgrade you can do. Barring that, you can use the Philips X-Treme Power 9006 for your low beams (and save doing the base modification).

Don't get anything that promises to be "whiter" or talks of high color temp or "HID look".

Unless you put projector (like those kit on ebay) this is not a really good idea , I put some so called hi-low beam hid on the hyunday accent of my friend last night and there is too much glare .

WHAT?!

Well I paid 170 for my HID's, 70 For the low voltage kit to stop the flickering. Thats usually they price if you want them to last more then a year.

I don't know why you said they are not legal because they are....Only the 4300k and 6000k are. they rest you can get ticketed for, at least here in canada. As for you need projector lights? I have never been able to see better in my corolla until I put these in. They work fantastic with the OEM highlights. Also if you dont want to blind other drivers just lower the angle easy as that. I have not even once been flashed by another driver and i've had mine for almost a year.

And still too much if it's just capsules and ballasts that you stick in a lamp assembly designed for a filament bulb-- even if that lamp assembly is a projector.

The one and only road-legal HID color temperature is nominal 4100K-4250K.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

The OEM headlight assemblies, whether a reflector or a projector, are designed to focus the light emanating from the center of a filament-- not from the two hotspots of an arc. They don't "work fantastic".

Aiming it down doesn't help, and whether you get flashed by other drivers is not an indication that they are working properly or not producing glare.

you must have a glare shield (h4) , My friend has a kit where the bulb only move about 4-5 mm . No glare shield so there is a lot of glare .

Anyways you never try projector so you can't tell the difference , I know the difference.

No, you must have a reflector or projector assembly designed for an arc discharge lamp. Adding glare shields is not enough.

It's not as simple as adding a glare shield to the OEM headlight, period. Installing an HID kit in a lamp assembly designed for a filament cannot be made to work properly.
