Just what the subject line says. My 2001 Corolla CE has no AC. Has anybody done this? I searched but didn't find info for this Corolla.

Probably not a lot of info because its not worth the hassle. Better off buying something that has A/C already.

I didnt think these cars came without A/C from the factory.

I agree. If you really want A/C, sell it this winter when no one is thinking about A/C, and buy another one with A/C.

If you really wated to convert this one, the only way to attempt it would be to find one that was wrecked by being rear ended in an accident and transfer everything A/C related over. However, there is a ton of work to do this and simply not worth the hassle. BTW, if you have a Corolla, a Prizm cannot be used a the donor since Prizms of this vintage use the Delco (GM) A/C systems.

Fair enough. This is my late father's car, so... I was kinda planning to keep it. Oh well.

I did it on my Prizm 99. My Prizm didn't come with the A/C from the factory. I bought the A/C kit from Toyota and did about 5% re-wiring. The other 95% is was pre-wire already.

But any one that want to install it, I don't recommend it. Especially if you are very novice. It is better to have the dealer install it.
