Canada Rear drums

Hey all
I am driving a 2002 corolla and recently i saw that my rear drums are completely rusted from outside. I looked inside the drum it seems pretty shiny and clean however the exterior looks like a beaten up rusted piece of metal. Do i need to replace them or is it ok to drive with them like that.
Thankz

its ok as long as the rust isn't rubbing on anything.

you could also try repainting it, just sand it down first and apply primer. while at it, you can also paint your front calipers to match.

someone posted you could paint them. If you do, I'd use something like a rustolleum type paint. But chances are, it will happen again and it isn't a real big deal. If you notice your front rotors, they get rusted too if they sit for any period of time, and then when you brake, whala, its gone.

So, I wouldn't worry to much about it.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Doesn't really affect braking performance.

It's a pretty common occurence with all the harsh Canadian winters.
