Need help choosing an exhaust system?

I'm looking to upgrade my '98 corolla VE exhaust system. I tried to search the forum and i mainly find muffler suggestions. any idea on a full exhaust system that can add performance but not be so loud.

Cost really varies. Depends if you get crush or mandrel bent piping.

yep, just supply your muffler (magnaflow or whatever you want). My system is crush bent, no resonator. Its LOUD though, maybe a bit too loud. The muffler cost like 60 and to get everything set up, it was like ~$300. I dont remember the exact amounts though.
The car felt a bit quicker in the upper RPMs after installing it.

I can't remember...mandrel vs crush, which flows better/is more expensive? I'm thinking crush is better than mandrel but I'm not sure I'm remembering right. I may have them reversed.

You do.

Mandrel > Crush bent.

yeah, crush bent restricts flow where the pipe is bent.

i've got mandrel bend and its loud in the city but i can hold a conversation and its whisper quiet on the highway. not stock quiet but as quiet as a aftermarket exhaust can get.

Thanks Phat. Yah I remembered that shortly after I posted. It was explained on the show Gearz recently and I just forgot about it. Always better to go mandrel so the flow is smooth although I imagine one couldn't feel the difference on a corolla.....mustang gt maybe.
