'90 corolla lower crank pulley

1)Anybody out there with any experience with a japanese-built '90 Corolla DX 1.6L DOHC, 4A-FE engine as far as the lower, small-toothed sprocket that you see at the bottom of the engine (which drives the timing belt) after you get the timing covers off?

I bought this part, called a crank sprocket by haynes and crankshaft pulley by Toyota, part # 13521-15010. I bought it because I read here on this forum that this part becomes fused to the crank. However, upon thinking about it, I would think once you release the tension on the timing belt tensioner also known as timing belt idler pulley (?) that the belt would just come off.

I am thinking that the only reason one might have to remove this small-toothed timing belt sprocket is if they want to remove their oil pump and replace it, correct?

2)Can anyone confirm on Japanese 4A-Fe 1.6L DOHC that there is only one o-ring needed when replacing the water pump. Supposedly, there is only one o-ring (part # 96761-24035) that goes at the end of the bypass hose. The bypass hose or pipe goes into the back of the water pump.

Thanks, Michael

might want to post this in the 6th gen corolla forum, since this is the 8th gen and our corolla's came with the 1zzfe.

but ill answer the question. the crank sprocket should come off once everything is disassembled. if it does stick you could use a gear puller on it to help persuade it off.

yes there is only 1 o ring for the water bypass hose. IIRC there is an o ring going to the block as well, so if you remove the pump housing from the block you would have a total of 2 o rings to replace. that is if i am remembering thing right. its been a year or two since i built my last 4a.
