'90 corolla lower crank pulley
1)Anybody out there with any experience with a japanese-built '90 Corolla DX 1.6L DOHC, 4A-FE engine as far as the lower, small-toothed sprocket that you see at the bottom of the engine (which drives the timing belt) after you get the timing covers off?
I bought this part, called a crank sprocket by haynes and crankshaft pulley by Toyota, part # 13521-15010. I bought it because I read here on this forum that this part becomes fused to the crank. However, upon thinking about it, I would think once you release the tension on the timing belt tensioner also known as timing belt idler pulley (?) that the belt would just come off.
I am thinking that the only reason one might have to remove this small-toothed timing belt sprocket is if they want to remove their oil pump and replace it, correct?
2)Can anyone confirm on Japanese 4A-Fe 1.6L DOHC that there is only one o-ring needed when replacing the water pump. Supposedly, there is only one o-ring (part # 96761-24035) that goes at the end of the bypass hose. The bypass hose or pipe goes into the back of the water pump.
Thanks, Michael
