98 Corolla Fuel Consumption

I get 30MPG or 8L/100km combined on my 98 Corolla. Is this good or I need to tune up. Just bought the car a few days ago with very low mileage at 57000KM. I replaced the air filter, changed the engine oil to Castrol synthetic, changed the transmission oil & changed the coolant.

Yes, that is decent but if you're not sure about the maintenance history, you can give the car a tune up.

3-spd or 4-spd auto? I have a 3-spd and it gets about 30mpg with me driving 99% highway miles at 70mph.

So I guess 30mpg is decent. I would expect a bit higher for my driving habits, since I'm almost exclusively highway miles. But if you're getting that as a combined city/hwy driving I guess that's not too bad.
It's certainly in a range where I'd think there was some sort of issue or anything like that.

my 30 mph is more city than hwy, i would say about 65% city to 35% hwy so I am happy with the consumption. I am going on a 700Km trip next week so I am hoping to get a better idea of mileage for all hwy. Cheers

Did my trip and travel approximately 600km and used about 24 liters. I still need to calculate the consumption.

Errrr.... check my math here....

600km = 373miles
24L = 6.3gal
373miles/6.3gal = 59mpg

Did you perhaps mean 48 liters?

Haha, That sounds alot like my Prizm. Bought it with 149k. Check engine came on for upstream O2 Sensor, Replaced it so it wouldnt make my car run like ****. Two days later the Check engine light came back on for the downstream, i could care less about that one so i never touched it. 23k miles later it still has the same engine light on but god knows what else could possibly be wrong.

OK I have reviewed my numbers and i looked at my scan gauge and it said after the trip 5.5 LHK so that equals to 42.9mpg US. Not bad I would say.
