speedometer question

Will this work in my 1998 corolla ce? The seller says that the speedometer says on the back it "fits a 1.8Lt 4door automatic 1998 Corolla" and he is new to the business because he is taking it over so he's unsure. As you may know, my corolla doesn't have a tachometer or white gauge faces, it just has speedometer and fuel, engine temp etc. Any feedback on this would be appreciated, thank you.

Ah, the white face touring cluster with tach. The important thing is that it comes from a 98. That works for you.

You will need to deal with one of these:
- Swap in your old speedo and have fun transplanting the white face and red pin to it. That I do not have the guts to try.
- Go through the red tape of registering an odometer change.

Rest of the cluster is plug and play. All you need then is an ambient temperature sensor.

EDIT: Cars with this cluster uses 185/65/14 tires. You may be going slower than this speedo tells you, if you choose not to swap in your original speedo.

Tach swap are very well covered here.

Alright, thanks Buurin. If it's not too off I can handle that because I got bigger wheels on right now anyways and I plan on getting a different set so it probably won't always be exact. And what I am assuming is even though I don't have a tach, I will just plug n play this new gauge and the tach will automagically work. I am also going to swap the odometer out of the old speedo like the DIY stated. I did read the DIY on how to swap out speedos but I was just making sure. I think that was an auto in that thread but i'm not sure. But thanks for the feedback.

Also, do you have any idea where you could find an ambient air sensor or what universal type system would work? Ebay is a no go.

manual or auto doesn't matter. The tach will magically work after the swap.

Junkyard or dealer for the sensor. Or you can just wait on ebay. One has to turn up sooner or later.
