Hey guys! I'm new here, help me?

Hey guys!

OK, I'm new to the 8th Gen Corolla but not to TN, I've been hangin' out in the Gen 6 Camry forum.

I'm having a transmission problem with my '00 Corolla CE, it jumps everytime I shift into "D" and sometimes to "R" also, especially in the morning when it's cold, the car feels like it's about to fly. I know this is not normal cause the other rollas don't do this. What could possibly go wrong?

Also, my car squeaks when going over speedbumps and uneven roads, I bounce tested my suspension by pushing the car down several times and it only bounce once, so I think the struts are ok, maybe just dry springs?

My mileage is only 60,000 mi and well maintained, maybe it's time to give it up?

Anyway, here's some pics of my '00 Corolla CE, all stock except the strut bar.

Thanks guys!

Have you checked your idle speed? High idle when cold can sometimes cause this.

Squeaks over bumps or dips in the road could be your sway bar bushings being dried out.

If they are, replace them and grease them up real nice before installing them.

Idle speed is normal, I forgot to mention that even on slow traffic it does that too. Switching gears are not smooth anymore and it's getting worse.

hey.

I would say since your at the 96,000km mark it would be time for a transmission fluid change or flush. Have there been any before now to the car?

Could be just the fluid is old and tired. I believe it's supposed to be done every 60k-80km. Although i wouldn't worry i've heard of people changing at like 150km. I'm from canada so i put it in km's. Just divide it by 1.6.

One other thing could be that it's getting colder where you live so when you start it up. It's reving higher to try and get it's self warmed up. And as the temperature goes up the idling would go to down. Untill it hits normal operating temp and it idel should be right on ur around the 1,000rpm

But you said it's at low speeds so i'm assuming it's when it's warmed up as well.

But n e ways couldn't hurt changing the fluid and possibly dropping the pan and changing the filter if you wanted to go that far. Since you are at the scdeuled maintance time for the fluid anyways.

oh and as for the noise you hear going over the bumps i'm not sure what it could be. And i definitely don't think this is time to give up. Bump noise are regular. And as above it could just because the fluid has not be changed or your not letting it warm up enough before you shift gears.

I reread you post and u said especially in the morning so what is probally happening is when you start in the morning it's idling at 1.8 to 2000 rpm. And then if u don't wait for it to warm up when you shift gears it drops to 1,000 cause the trany forces it too. But it really wanted to be at 2000 cause it doesn't think it's warm yet. Resulting in the hard shift.

OK, I'll try the transmission flush cause I've never done it before and see how it goes. Thanks!
