Help revive my 1999 Corolla CE's battery. Buy new one or add water?

So my 1999 Corolla CEe's battery decided to die on me on a freezing Monday morning. I read on the internet somewhere that you can add water to a dead battery and it will work again? Is that true?

But how will I know if my battery are capable of adding water or not? some batteries are allow to add water some are not right? do the 99 ce have that option?

or should I just buy a new one? currently it reads 350 CCA but I found two in Advance Auto Parts that I might buy...however one is 500 CCA that cost $85 and one is 540 CCA that cost $70. I'm leaning towards the $85 one just because it seems better....what do you guys think I should do?

Contact the manufacturer of your battery and ask them.

Most batteries nowadays are maintenance free and permanently sealed.

There are alot of reasons why a battery will go bad. One of the biggest is age. If its over 5 years old, replace it( especially in cold climates).

Never trust a battery once it has been allowed to go flat. Buy a new one and save yourself a lot of grief.

I'm in the hot south where batteries only last people about 3-4 years. If your battery has caps on top of it then they can be pulled off to add distilled water. If it is a maintenance free battery then it will not have caps on top and it will have a small vent on each side on top where the internal pressure can release without exploding the battery.

Good advice from others above. Take it to a place where they can check the battery and if it has a bad cell in it that will not hold a charge then get a new battery. I would get the one with the most CCA.
