1 how often should you change you atf, or is it not advised to do(some say yes some say no) (no my fluid is still clear red, doesn't smell burnt, and still is viscus as it is in the bottle, although starting to show, i think, its time for a change) 2 how do you know if you clutch is starting to give, like does the gas pedal vibrate, weird nois, etc car is a 98 corolla ce, 3(4 with overdrive) auto transmition 20600KM on it(or about 128000 Miles)

I like to change my automatic transaxle fluid every 30K miles (drain and refill) and then do a pan drop and filter change every 60K miles. This is on my 2002 Corolla (4-speed O/D) that has almost 185K miles on it now. Color and odor are only some indications of the fluid condition - you can't go by how it looks or how viscous the fluid it - have to chemically "test" the oil to determine condition. If in doubt - do a drain and refill with Dexron II/III ATF or compatible fluid.

Factory service manual has it set at every 60K miles under special operating conditions. Definitely a fluid that will eventually need to be replaced. Sometimes they don't recommend a fluid change on a car that hasn't seen regular maintenance, as the new fluid can sometimes "shock" the system. But those are usually cases of flushing the transaxle. If you do a drain and refill, it will be a gradual change to the system - amount as gentle as you can get and still replace the old fluid.

Not sure what you are after with the "clutch" in the automatic transaxle. Are you talking about the internal clutch bands, lockup-clutch? There is no dry fiction clutch, like in the case of a standard transaxle - automatic transaxle, everything is internal and cooled/lubricated by the transaxle fluid. Another good reason to change the fluid at regular intervals.
