Transmission Fluid Check

Hi,
Mine is Toyota Corolla CE 2000 with auto-transmission. I would like to monitor my transmission fluid level. How do I do that? How often I have to change the transmission fluid? Or just adding fluid on top of existing one is enough?

Thanks,
M

There is a very detailed post on how to do this. Check in the stickied threads on top.

I don't know if my 01 is that much different looking under the hood than your 00 but my trans dipstick is on the passenger front side of the engine and the handle is yellow. The fluid should be changed every 3yrs or 30k miles. The only time you want to add fluid is when the level is lower than it should be on the dipstick. Check the trans fluid level after it has not been driven for hours and is cold for best reading.
