Flashing Hi-Beam Panel Indicator

I've got a 2001 Corolla CE.

A few weeks ago the high-beam indicator light started flashing. Today I noticed that there is a sound (between a click and a thump) that's in sync with the flashing light. The daytime running lights no longer work, and the sounds goes away when I turn on the parking lights or headlights.

I'm thinking relay, or fuse, but I'm not sure which is likely to be the culprit.

Any tips?

Thanks.

Sounds like it may be a loose or corroded connection in your turning stalk. (just guessing) Sit in your car and flash your high beams, move the stalk back and forth, and turn the headlight switch several times. This might clean the internal contacts a little bit- see if it helps. If it only helps a little, or doesn't help, I would suggest maybe buying a new turning stalk from ebay or a junkyard unless someone else knows the answer for sure.
Hope I helped.

I have the same problem on my 02, did this work for you? I thought it might have been the fuse or connector in the engine bay...
