2001 8th gen Corolla LE

Hey everyone,
I ordered a HID kit for my 2001 corolla LE recently due to i need bright lights to see where im going at night upstate going back and forth from school. The Question i have is how do i disable my Day Time Running lights for my 8th Gen (2001) Corolla LE? I've been looking into it on a bunch of sites and forms and i get different answers from everyone. I would prefer to be able to restore the DRL if i haft to for any reason. Any help would be great, thanks for your time.

Go here:

http://www.onlinefreeebooks.net/auto...etins-pdf.html

Scroll down to where it says Download free 21 Toyota Technical Service Bulletins (2 MB zip file, extract it to get 21 pdf files of Toyota TSB) and download the Zip file. In the Zip file there is one called TSB_DRL_REMOVE.pdf.

The TSB_DRL_REMOVE.pdf contains information on how to disable the DRL's on several Toyota models. It lists the 2000 Corolla, but it is the same as the 2001 or 2002.

I disabled my DRLs using this TSB.

There are threads here that show how to do it. Here's one: http://img.toyotanation.com/forum/sh....php?p=3353291

It is also listed in the 8th gen FAQ thread. I disabled mine years ago and I still enjoy being able to choose when I use the lights. Some people mount a switch in their glovebox or center console to toggle the drl's if they ever want them back on.

I believe in Canada DRL's are mandatory and it is illegal to disable them.

Thank you everyone, i really appreciate it, now i can install these bad boys once i get home for Christmas break and not need to worry about not seeing random deer at night. Yeah ive been hearing about the whole Canada thing, but i wont be driving there anytime soon, well at least not with my car. I need to shut them off or they are going to blow out my HIDS since the DRL will put them too low. Thanks again everyone!

And my standard response...

Okay, having posted this, I'll say I did go through the trouble of rewiring the DRLs to the high beam so I can have both. Or could be as easy as replacing the DRL module with one from 00-01 Camry (those have DRLs on high beam?) and you could then use HID on low with impunity.

I don't know for sure about that so I'll stand corrected.
