starting problem

My corolla 2001 LE could not be started after two freaking cold days without running. I replaced new battery for it, but no help. Could anybody give any tips on it? Can I start it with jumper from another car?

thanks now

If the new battery is not doing it, then a jump will unlike help out.

Need more information - what do you mean but not starting?

Does the car make any clicking or ticking noises when you turn the key to start?
Is the car cranking but doesn't run?
Anything else electrical that is not working?
Checked to make sure there is gas in the tank?
Checked oil levels?
What is the maintenance history of the car?

If the weather was really cold, another possibility could be a frozen gasoline line. A bottle of gas drier will help out very quickly in that case.

Thanks, fishexpo101.
The car did make clicking or ticking noises when I tried to turn the key to start. Could it be the bad starter?

Was it a single click each attempt ?? or rapid repeated clicking ?

If single click I would try it several times to see if it will start at some point.

If rapid clicking and dimming dash lights check voltage level of new battery and connections.

if the car is making a clicking ticking noise, that usually means the starting system is good upto the solinod, however it would be worth while to have your battery tested to make sure it still has the right amount of CCA's, you can also jump the starter, or if your car is manual push/pull start it

thx to all replies. Oops, my friend told me that could be caused by the bad fuel pump? Can it be true?

I would say no to the bad fuel pump, unless it was cranking over for some time, and would not start because you killed the battery trying to start it. If you just have one click when u trun the key. sounds like the starter or solinoid.. Had the same issue, tested neutral safety switch, relays.and starter it was the starter, put the new one in done.. first make sure the battery is charged and holding a charge. after I put my starter in, 3 days later more clicking and would not turn over.. drove me nuts to figure this out.. believe it or not, ended up being a bad starter they sold me.. at least it only took me less than half the time to put another one in. good luck
