no it will not. your coworker is an idiot. now people have done the better 3sgte swap into a corolla. like the 5s swap it requires wiring harness, ecu, engine, trans and a whole lot of time and money.
the easier swaps are all of the zz family. only a zz engine will bolt right up to our trans. period.

just did some quick searching, and i guess the other zz motors make less hp, unless its the 2zz-ge from japan... i dont have that kind of money, so im wondering if maybe i could just rebuild my 1zzfe and get bigger pistons...?
do many (any) people bore these motors out at all?
actually!!! the pontiac vibe uses a 2zz-ge! i wonder how much i could scoop up one of those motors... i work at a autowreckers, so i can get pretty good deals

you can build a 1zz. or swap to a 2zz. it has been done before. you said you work for an autowreckers so i dont think finding the engine would be a problem.
not many bore them out, because to go to a larger bore requires the block to be sleeved. but if your interested in building the 1zz or 2zz then i suggest checking out monkeywrenchracing.com they have built a 500+ whp 1zz and a few 600+ whp 2zz. so they are quite capable engines. just not very cheap to build.
the 2zzge came in 00-05 celica gts's, matrix / corolla xrs's and pontiac vibe gt's as well as the lotus elise and exige. all the 2zz manuals are a 6spd close ratio trans. with the right parts, the trans can be swapped in to your corolla with the stock 1zz. it makes the car extremely fun. i know, my corolla has a 6spd.

thats awesome! thats exactly what im going for! i want a 6spd in my corolla. i know we have a few pontiac vibes and matrix's at work. im sure i could pick up a complete motor and everything pretty cheap. i want to get the 2003 vibe motor, cause it has the most hp, sitting at 170. in 04, they went down to 163, and after 05, they were at like 154 or something
so what all was involved in your 6spd swap? what right parts are you talking about?

you need to use axles from a 00-05 celica gts. the thing is they are a equal lenght half shaft setup, which uses a carrier bearing/support brace that connects to the exhaust side of the engine to help support the intermeadiate shaft. our blocks do not have the holes drilled for this. all celica 2zz and 1zz engines do tho.
other than that, you will need the shifter cables from a 00-05 celica gt/gts. provided you are allready a 5spd. if your not then you will need everything to do a complete trans swap, which would include these spefic parts. the gears are really close together. like almost stupid close. top speed is 127mph in 6th with the stock 6250rev limit. and it will get there pretty quick. if you can get a 03+ 6spd because they have wider shift gates and this means less missed shifts/over revs.
also the celica gts is the most powerfull US 2zz, with 180 hp and 8400 rpm rev limit in the 00-02 gts's.
Use a low mileage short block from an 04 or newer car(Vibe,Corolla, Matrix) with a 1zzfe. The later cars have revised pistons and rings to eliminate the oil consumption issue.
