Removing face plate on dashboard

Where would I start to pry to remove the face plate that goes over the tape deck and vents in this picture?

BTW, that black thing with the velcro is NOT a spot for a radar detector. ;-)

There are two little notches at the bottom of the "faceplate" where you can insert a flat head screw driver or whatever you want and then just pop it out. Very simple.

i usually push the bottoms of the vents in, grab the little lip and give it a firm tug. pops out every time. no gouging with a screw driver or anything. to each their own though

There is no gouging with a screwdriver at all. It is designed this way for removal. Look for the grooves. I work at a dealership so I know a thing or two.
