help? HIDS with DRL?

i was wondering if anyone knew if i would have problems running HID lights on my toyota corolla since i have Day time running lights. please please help me with my issue.

You would need to disconnect the DRL in order for the HIDs to work properly. HIDs don't work on lower voltage than specified.

i was reading somewhere that i had to cut the wire running to pin 23 for my 2002 toyota corolla. Now what else i was wondering would be if i cut the wire far enough down. Could i reconnect the wire at a later date if i wish to resell the car as stock without HIDS. And another question. If i cut the wire controlling the daytime running lights will it interfere with the sensor that automatically turns the lights on when it gets dark enough?

To save all this hassle and for your car to be sell-able again (because I think it's illegal not to have DRL) Just spend 80$ and get adapter that connects from your light directly to your battery. Every time you car is on your HID lights will always be on.

Kyle Hamelin, it's not illegal to not have DRL. If that was the case, every car out there that was made before the DRL feature became a standard on many cars would be considered illegal. Cops would be giving out citations to every car they saw when they have more important things to do.

Ya your wrong sorry to say. In Canada EVERY CAR on the road has drl. Any car that was made in America and comes to Canada has to be fitted with drl light or they are not allowed to sell it. I bought a 2007 Honda accord coupe from America and before they could sell it they needed to wire the lights so they are on all the time. I really don't care what this guy does to his car just warning him. Instead of messing with the wiring you buy this fool proof thing install in and no problems. Easier then fishing for a wire in my opinion.

There is an adapter you can buy for you HID kit. It directly connects both of you HID balests to your battery. So you don't need to cut your DRL (Which is illegal in Canada). Your lights will start up full blast no flashing every time your car is on. Costs about 80$ Canadian. It's very easy as it is just a plug and play system. If you cut your DRL and are planning to sell your car in Canada good luck with that...

i did it last night...it doesnt require many tasks...kinda easy to do..

i put hid's in my corolla and they worked alright at first but after several months the one light exploded in the housing and the other melted. i would recommend putting in a relay to help avoid this problem.
