Oil Light On

The oil light on my 99 corolla started to blink and stay on, oil level is fine and oil gets changed every 3000 miles, it has 97,000 miles. Is it safe to drive with the light on? anyone know what could be wrong or what needs to be checked or fixed?

Oil light on = oil pressure low. It does not mean to little oil, though to little oil will result in loss of presure.

Maybe something is blocking the flow of oil - oil filter or sludge.

Other possibilities, your oil pump is failing of your oil pressure switch is acting up. I would have it checked at the garage.

Don't know if you can read oil pressure through OBD, no experience. You could connect an oil pressure gauge to check the pressure.

Maybe a mechanic has some tools to check the pressure, if it's OK, first thing I would do is to replace the oil pressure switch.

The switch is located right above the oil filter.
