well, i dont have a 0-60 but i do know i did 10.2 @ 73 mph in the 1/8th. this was with spin in first (2.3 60'fts) and little in 2nd. skipped 3rd due to bad synchros and not going in or staying in gear all the time.
so i 1 - 2 -4 'd it and got a 10.2 @73. ...... hehehe. i cant wait till its back together. lsd + new trans + other goodies... im expecting mid 9's in the 1/8 mile.
My mods are just the corolla/celica intake manifold and throttle body, shortening the intake box and ported stock headers along with some ground and voltage stabilizer.
I started off slow in the beginning so that the tired won't spin so that slowed me down.I only got like 9.5-9.9 sec LOL.
Anyways isnt the c59 tranny a stock 1zz transmission????

Easy. Good driving skills, fresh plugs, clean oil, and some good shifting. I've noticed once the plugs get oil fouled this engine makes little to no power, and drives like crap causing more oil to be burned in the process.
^^ this. best thing to do is to learn to launch your car as hard as you can. believe it or not, but when launching a n/a fwd car you want a wee bit of wheel spin. not like tire shreading, but a little bit while moving forward. say like 80% forward momentum 20% wheel spin. ride the spin out till it hooks usually before redline, then slam to the next gear. (no lift shift if you must)
ill have to dig around, but i have videos of me driving a firends 94 celica gt. stock except for a short ram, gutted cat, lowered on egay coilovers and a muffler. with street tires, at a drag strip, my best of the time in his car was 11 flat. i know slow as fuck. but the impressive side was i made an open diff fwd car pull a 1.9 60ft out of the hole using the same technique as described above. this was about 6 years ago, so ill see if i cant find the video
Looking at it in an editor the time is 9.3-5 seconds which isnt bad for an autotragic. Here in a few days I will be getting a plastic Celica intake manifold and will post new times after that. And hopefully this spring I will be swapping it to a 5 speed, redoing the headers/exhaust to a 3" pipe, and getting some crower cams which will really help everything out lol.

^^ sound like a plan, but hold off on the 3in exhaust. 2.5 is more than sufficient for n/a. just make sure you go 2.5 from the header back with a high flow cat paired with a nice magnaflow muffler.
as for the cams, if your on a stock ecu dont expect big gains. the stock ecu really limits power in the corolla. the celica gt ecu is better, as is the mr-s/mr2 ecu (6900 limit) but they still have their limits. and also require work to swap into our chassis.
@Milky and Bdub215 how much do you guys think you are putting down to the wheels if you dont mind me asking. And as for the celica manifold and throttle body, was it an easy swap? and did u feel a difference?

well before the swap i made 120 hp and 120tq at 163k miles. well over 10k miles later with the swap i made 117 hp and 112tq but the difference in the powerband and overall feel of the car was incredible. the huge dips in the power and torque are gone before and power and torque NEVER fall off. i say this swap is good for 125-130 whp easily. as far as the swap the manifold is bolt on. the radiator outlet becomes an issue (small) so myself and milky both got new rads.

Oh okay thanks for the info. Sounds good, i was looking into doing it so thats why i asked, what was the issue with the radiator outlet?
^^ this. (was supposed to be under Bdubs post, crolla56 ninja'd me! LOL)

i had almost the same setup as Bdub before my downtime, but with the addition of a header, poly motor mounts and the 6spd. also gutted cat and no muffler. LOL. so maybe a few whp more than Bdub's setup. the biggest difference in mine is the c60 (6spd) trans. it boasts ULTRA close gear ratios when pair with the 1zz and a 6200 limiter. this is because of its stout 4.529 final drive. so even tho we have close to the same power, my car acts like it has more hp.
after my swap is finished, im going to say the engine will have 140hp stock, since it will pretty much be a 100% rebuilt 1zz using the better celica gt head, ecu and intake manifold/thottle body while retaining the stronger corolla rods. pistons are the same so eh.. with current mods and a few planned ones... maybe 150hp at the crank.
the difference is quite noticable between the intake manifolds. the engine has a much broader power band. even tho it looses a couple peak hp, it just does not drop off at all. it will seriously pull to redline in every gear. and sounds waaay different. much more aggressive sounding when you whip the throttle open. the install of the manifold and tb is not hard at all, but as mentioned it will kink the upper rad hose. for this reason both Bdub and i have swapped to different radiators.
