general arctic or pirelli carving edge?

I want to get snow tires considering that my all season are wearing out anyway and I need to hurry so i can use them while it's still snowy. These are for stock steelies on my ce. My choices are
general altimax arctic 185/65r14 $64 175/65R14 $56 185/70r14 $59
(i am leaning towards general arctic because of reviews and looks)
pirelli carving edge 185/70r14 $53(cheaap) 175/65r14 185/65r14 $65
and i'm possibly considering firestone winterforce or continental extreme winter contact in any of these sizes as well. I am preferring the taller tire because my s techs sit a little too low for the snow here so i would hope they would help a little untill i possibly swap out for h techs.
If you have any experience with these tires or suggestions on sizes or tire preference please let me know which one i should get. 185/70 might be too beefy for a snow tire yes/no? any input would be great. thanx

185/70R14 will fit fine, I have a set of them sitting on a 7th gen and there is enough clearance. If you get ice, get a studded tire and stud it.

Thanx. Do you have any preference in tires? Any of them will probably be substantially better anyways so I might as well go with the cheapest huh? (pirelli carving edge 185/70r14)
