Can't figure out the problem, help?

Allright, here's the deal, for the past 2 months...when i drive around for a bit and my car actually warms up, in 2nd, 3d and 4th gear if im driving at around 2000rpm and i give gaz, the car accelerates gently like it should. .but if i press a little more like if i want to pass someone, the engine revs to let say 3000 3500 rpm but it aint advancing any further or any faster. I have a feeling that im not engaged in any speed when it happens. . like if im in neutral. I really have trouble explaining that but if i press just a little more gaz then a grandpa would do my engine revs but im not gaining any speed...so i let go the gaz pedal to restart the procedure but slowly so i can gain speed...i hope i explained in a somewhat logical way...

Please help would be much appreciated especially when people seem to not understand whats happening to my car...by the way i forgot to mention, im driving a corolla 2001 Ce manual with 120 000 km synthetic oil changed every 8000km..

thank youu
