Clutch pedal and starting

Recently I have been finding that I need to depress my clutch further than normal when I start my 99 Corolla. Over the last few days when starting my car the starter clicks so the second time I need to really depress the clutch to the firewall in order to start on the second attempt. I'm afraid this is a progressive problem that will one day leave me stranded if I don't address it now.

What should I be looking to do to fix the issue? Switch replacement? Adjustment? Another part in the starting system is the problem?

You should fully depress the clutch to the floor before doing anything with it anyway. It might be worn put fr you being lazy when starting it / shifting
