If you have a blow headgasket and the actual level of the oil has risen, then the oil on the dipstick should look off (more like brown mayonnaise than oil).
When you say a lot of oil got drained out, do you remember how much got drained out - how many quarts? How did the oil look, was it dark, light in color, opaque, etc.? Who service the oil the last go around, a quick lube shop, mechanic, dealership? Some of the newer Corollas hold 5 quarts, this generation engine holds a little less than 4 quarts.
Quickest way to check is verify if coolant is being lost. Especially if the oil is doing something weird. Used oil and coolant tests/gas analyzer test will tell if headgasket is blown.
How is the fuel economy? Car is going though more fuel than usual lately? Could have a leaking or stuck injector that is just dumping gas in the engine. Some will get blow out the exhaust, the rest will be blown past the rings and into the crankcase, diluting the oil. Put a couple of drops of oil on a clean papertowl or large coffee filter paper. Note any gasoline odor and how the oil spreads out from capillary action. If it has no oil smell, but smells like gasoline, could be a bad injector. If the oil "blot" starts to look like growth rings from a cut tree (distinct rings formed outward from the initial drops, instead of being evenly distributed), then that could also indicate an excessive amount of fuel dilution in the oil and/or coolant contamination.
