Is your Corolla loud? My feels like an airplane > 65mph

Good God, the car (98 VE) reminds me of my old 93 Celica (finally traded it in for an Integra, besides the noise it was too weak to safely pass other cars on the freeway). When it hits past 65 mph it sounds like I am right next to an airplane. There is so much engine noise. When I hit 70, I'm expecting hyperspace. Haven't dare pass 75 mph, might go back to the future.

I am sure it is due to the lack of sound insulation perhaps or maybe changing from the Kumho tires? They arent great Kumhos probably cheapy ones but the treading is practically new and I'd hate to lose it for that.

If nothing else, it keeps me from speeding.

Yep probably your tires. I have an exhaust and my car is almost silent at a steady 70mph cruise. And on your celica depending on trim the power might not have been up to par for the heft of that car.
