So, from what I understand, all 8th gen Corollas have this motor?
I have 85,000 on mine and it runs like a dream, are there problems I can expect or is it just luck of the draw whether something goes wrong??
Correct.
You should be too busy enjoying your car to post here. Is there some nagging worries?

i thought and hope if you change oil every 3k miles you should be ok. has that been the case for you car camiable?
Yes, I change my own oil every 3,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. that's what it's supposed to be. but I'm not the first, or second, owner of the car so I think the previous owners didn't baby it like I do; they were probably ignorant.
I bought mine from and old lady that was determined that the CATALYTIC CONV. was absorbing all the oil. she poured and poured oil into it then stopped driving it. I took a look at it, it had the OEM plugs/Wires, OEM PCV filter from 1999. also, the dipstick was "burnt" you until you changed the oil, you couldn't tell how much oil you had. since the oil was caked on the dipstick, she never got an accurate reading. i cleaned up all the oil off the dipstick with steel wool, rinsed and let it dry, and the car burns no oil whatsoever.
99 1ZZFE with 168,771k. i get 36-38MPG on regluar unleaded. avg speed is 75-80mph on a 62 mile roundtrip to work everyday.
Mine doesn't burn any oil at all. That's because I take very good care of it.
I'd have to stick my finger up your tailpipe before I believe that.
98-02 corizmollas had a valve seal problem. It is really the luck of the draw. I've had one good and one bad. I think if your engine was produced on a Monday, Thursday or Friday, then you are screwed.
is it possible to use a higher viscosity oil? or maybe you have to replace your head gasket or massive blowby. 500 miles per quart is terrible. check under your car, does it look wet with oil? thats definately a head gasket problem. do you have blueish smoke out the tailpipe? thats more of a blowby problem. get some high viscocity STP or something to thicken up your oil.
