pcv valve

I was going to put seafoam in my car today and when i did so...i pulled the pcv valve(the one on the right of the engine not the front one) line off and the engine starts to stalls for 3 sec. and then dies???Is that suppose to happen??then how am i gonna put it in through the pcv then...

I know i can use the brake booster line(which i havent tried) but will it do the same thing as the pcv line did??

I'm just being cautious

Yeah, the engine will die if you pull the PCV hose off - as you now have a huge vacuum leak.

If you want to put seafoam through there - you have to gun the throttle as you are pouring the stuff in. Easiest if you have someone else helping you - I've seen people prop the accelerator pedal with a brick or use a bat, but that has way too much potential to go wrong.

Brake booster, pcv valve - same principle behind them - you just need to find a manifold vacuum source to pull the solvent in. Don't add too much, chance of hydrolocking the engine is still pretty remote - but anything can happen. Also try and do this some place remote - as there will be a stupid amount of smoke that will pour out of the exhaust.

can someone be so kind as to let me know where the front one is? thanks!

Well there's two hose going to the head of the engine valve cover one in front of the sparks plugs and one at the right end. I've heard and read that those two are pcv but the actual one is the one at the right end.

And i've decided to use the brake booster line since when i pull it, it does idle but it didnt die on me and i did it alone.

I'll have to disconnect the hose leading into the valve cover from the front of the engine. It looks like its a straight pcv valve and the one on the side of the valve covers is an F - shaped one.

Hello. New here and just bought a 2000 Corolla CE about a month ago. I also have an 04 Pontiac Vibe with the same 1zzfe motor, so I'm a little familiar with it. There's only one PCV valve, on the drivers side rear of the valve cover.

Best place to add Seafoam or other top end cleaner is the brake booster hose, it's big enough to fit a funnel into and won't kill the motor. You still might need to set something on the pedal to hold the throttle open a little, but I've never had to.
