Speedometer not working!

Hi guys!

I have a toyota corolla 99 and im having problem with my speedometer and odometer. The Check engine light is on. The scan show me that the vehicle speed sensor was not working, i replaced the sensor and the problem still there...

This only happen when the weather is hot i dont know why .Early in the morning and at night the problem goes away...

I tried to go to old posts and i didn't find a problem like that...

Thank you for your help!

The signal goes from:

Gearbox sensor -> instrument cluster -> ECU.

The instrument cluster converts the signal from the gearbox sensor to an other sigal (4P) the ECU can use. If there is a problem with the instrument cluster, the ECU will not get the speed signal. If the signal does not reach the cluster, you can get error codes. If the signal does not reach the ECU, you can also get error codes.

Next step I would do (because it only happens when hot), take out the cluster, clean the connections and put it together again. Sound like a loose connection to me.
