Where can I find the rear chrome lettering?

I noticed today that the chrome plating on the lettring on the back of my corolla is flaking off (unsure why that happened). I did a google search to see if I could find the lettering online but didn't come up with anything.

Where can I find that lettering? I need all of them. I assume they won't come with adhesive... if that's the case, what's a good adhesive to use?

ebay has pretty much any emblem/decal/lettering you can think of. if you want to stick with OE, then any toyota dealer can probably locate and price the emblems/letters.

most of the "new" letters will have adhesive backing. peel off and replace. be sure to scrape off any gunk, goo or left over adhesive before you apply the new letters .

good luck!

I was hoping to avoid the dealer but I suppose they'd be better suited to finding those kinds of little things...

Thanks for the tip.

I don't need the emblem. I need the lettering. And I'm very hesitant with eBay -- I've had a lot of very negative experiences with it so I tend to avoid it if I can. I'd rather pay the extra few dollars for a part I can see and touch before paying for it than flip a coin and hope for the best.

I did find a site called toyotapartseast.com -- they seem to check out with Verisign and the BBB. Granted the parts are somewhat expensive but it has the lettering (and a few other hard to find parts) so I dunno. Maybe I'll get what I need there.

There are a few dealers that also have online operations. Some are even sponsors here. They are said to be quite reliable.

Or, you can just take some fishing lines, hair dryer, goo-gone or similar, and just take them all out.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't want to take off the lettering, simply get it back to looking the way it should. I've been in touch with a couple of suppliers and, while not thrilled with the $20 - $30 price tag, is about what I expected to pay for these. I'll be sure to keep them in much better shape than I did the original lettering...

Mine did the same thing to me in the summer. I took all letters off and then was ready to go get more. Then I took a step back and looked at it. Decided I liked it without the letters. Looks more clean in the back end I find. To all his own though.

Yeah, I've seen a few corolla's rolling around with the rear lettering taken off. I find it to be too plain to leave them off. The next generation solved that by bringing the license plate holder up onto the tail gate so the small nameplate sufficed.
