humidity not letting car start?
this afternoon about 1:30pm go to start my 98 corolla and the engine wouldn't turn over, its not the starter it would click engage the engine etc, not the battery because hooking it to a charger and or boosting the engine didn't help it start. after a few mins of trying to get the car to start while being boosted it starts let it run for a couple of mins before i put it into gear, to let it warm up and if the engine started to flood to get rid of it. slowly worked the throttle it would stutter but if i hit it hard, so to speak, it rev no problem. waited another min, tried to back out of the drive way, stall wouldn't turn over again. had to push it into the drive way with my parents truck since the driveway is on a bit of a slant. heres the thing i opened the hood to connect the car battery charger/booster and the engine bay was all damp everything was, so checked a few things spark plus seemed fin jsut the center 2 had some oil on the outside of them, im under the assumption that either they weren't tightened enough or that i need to replace the gasket there, everything else was fine as far as i could tell, didn't check to see if there was the alternator was giving a charge voltage(about 14 if i remember correctly) gave up since running late at about 2:30pm dad gets home at about 5;15pm goes and tries my car it seems to start no problem no hesitation no nothing which kinda removes the thought a bit from it being the alternator since the battery wasn't on charge for the afternoon so in short is it possible that humidity can be in the wires to the spark plus and in/around the coil packs causing the engine not to start/turn over fully
