can anyone tell, or better, show me with pictures how to install an ambient temp sensor on 2000 corolla ce? also, what type to buy? I just put a new cluster in with tach and would like to also put this in. (yes, I'm the guy with the non blinking left turn signal after the swap)

Look at rockauto.com, it's listed under heat and air conditioning. There are three different brands to pick from. I have had good luck in general with both Standard & AC Delco. Can't recall ever using the other brand.

Install: Plug it in. Plug is located directly in front of the A/C condenser on the core support bracket. Basically right behind the grill and down a few inches.
