Stereo Install Question

I'm trying to install a new stereo (Pioneer DEH 3200 UB) in my 2000 Toyota Corolla and am having issues detecting +12V on the battery wire, even with the car running. I am seeing +12 on my ignition wire fine. Is there a separate fuse for this battery wire?

Thanks!

Definitely invest in a wiring harness if at all possible, if you haven't already done so. For less than $12-$15, saves you a lot of headaches down the road from splicing into the existing harness. That way, you retain the durability of the OEM harness, and just chop up the cheap harness.

Down the road you might want to upgrade the headunit - with a harness, just unplug, chop off old headunit connectors, replace with new headunit wiring, plug back to OEM wiring connections - good to go.

fishexpo & clayton are 100% dead-on with that one. I installed mine with a wiring harness - WAY easier, plus if you ever upgrade the stereo system again down the road (I have), you won't have to worry about ruining the original wires in the car.

You can get a wiring harness for like $7 off Amazon or eBay. (I found one on eBay for under $5, shipped!) Get that, some wire strippers and crimp caps (16-22g). That's what I just did and it took me under an hour for the ENTIRE project. Don't forget to remove the little brackets from your factory unit to attach to your new Pioneer. I bought a similar model, you're going to LOVE it!

Thank you so much for the picture of the wiring with labeled wires.

My harnes has been hacked up and I found a harness from a 2000 Toyota Tacoma. There are some differences in the wires. I am hoping this will all work out.

At any rate thanks again for the picture.
