Have two questions that needs experience and expertise from people of this forum. Have asked questions in this forum in the past and was able to get some postive feedback.
Saw few 8th gen corolla on cardomain with TRD bodykit. They look amazing with lowered suspension and aftermarker wheels. Was searching online to order a set but was unable to find any. I was wondering if anyone on this forum know where to get the TRD bodykit for the 8th gen corollas ?
One of my fog light bulb burnt out. The bulbs are H3 55w. Went online did some research on different brands that made this size of bulb and found out the aftermarket bulbs may be brighter than stock. My question is does anyone have any experience with aftermarket bulbs like PIAA, Philips, Nokya etc... How are the brightness, colour, reliability and durability of aftermarket brands when compare to stock ?
Any feedback on these regards would be appriciated, many thanks in advance.
The TRD kit for the 8th gen Corollas are no longer being manufactured - so the likelyhood of finding one in a box is very remote. Like RoachRolla mentioned, have to find someone willing to sell theirs, to be able to get your hands on a kit.
There have been some aftermarket knockoffs that pop up from time to time. Though their quality pales to comparison to the OEM TRD kit.
As for lighting options - lots of choices out there. Generally speaking, the "brighter" the light, the more likely sacrifice service life of said halogen bulb. For long service life, stick with stock bulbs. You want something brighter (without going to HID option), then you'll generally see shorter lifespans. How shorts depends on the driving conditions, how you use the bulbs. Some like something yellower or bluer than stock color temperatures - that is more personal preference than anything else. Myself, I tend to stick to the yellower side up to white light for all my lamps. Yields maximum light output and attracts less attention from the local law enforcement in my area.
On my 2002 - I've been running the original OEM fog bulbs for almost 5 years. Replaced them because light output was significantly degraded, but they were still working. Replaced with PIAA bulbs - those lasted less than a year. Have heard mixed reviews with Nokya bulbs - Philips, Osram, GE are all known good bulbs. Eventually got some LL (long life) Sylvania bulbs (same as stock) - still have them on the car (~ almost 5 years now), looks and acts just like stock.
Nice, answered my questions fully. After your feedback i would go with stock bulbs due to not having to replace as often. One more thing, do you know any alternative that looks similar to the TRD kit or even the replicas and where i can get them ?? Thank you very much, you guys have been very helpful.
Closest place would be EBay - for finding those knock off lip kits. Some just bought BMW lip spoilers, and cut them to fit the Corolla. Don't know if you want to go to that trouble to get a lip kit.
Another possibility is to try and find a person that goes by "supershyguy" - he made some RS lip kits that are well liked by owners. Not sure if he still makes those kits, as it was more a hobby/sideproject for him. Probably a long shot, as he was pretty active around 2007, but haven't seen much since then.
Here is one of the alternative kits that fishexpo mentioned: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOT...Q5fAccessories
If you buy it though, prepare for it to take FOREVER to ship and to be a major PIA to fit onto the car. Highly recommended to have it professionally installed. It was a nightmare but I think it looks good when installed.
