Oil

How much oil (approx) does the 2000 Corolla have/need in it?

I usually put 4.5 quarts in my car. 4 quarts leaves it low.

3.7 quarts without the oil filter replacement. 3.9 with the filter replacement. If you have had an updated dipstick installed, it could be 4.5. You should be able to check the driver's side door for details.

Thanks, just needed an estimate. I wanted to dump some Sea Foam in the crank case before my oil change. Both are now done.

4 quarts is too much unless you're not filling your oil filter before you install it. And even then, you should be checking your oil level as you get near the end to ensure you don't over fill.

The actual spec is 3.9 quarts for a complete change with oil filter. But, don't take that as the final word -- check the level as you fill so you don't over fill. Over filling can be just as bad as underfilling.

Book shows 3.9 quarts with filter. I always throw in 4 and havent had a problem in 100k miles.

I dont think that .1 quart could hurt the engine other than some fluke thing. Noa a half a quart might cause problems. (if its not burnt off)

Like what was mentioned above ,there is an updated dip stick that requires more oil to reach its full line. An attempt at a partial fix for the oil sludge problem.
